Focaccia
Posted in : Sides on by : MayaI once read a book about a girl who had lots of life troubles, lost her job, house and boyfriend and baking saved her both from going insane and from being jobless.
The plot of the book was certainly not the best one ever, but reading it I was longing for baking bread, bagels and focaccia… It came with a few recipes, and this one became a permanent element of my cuisine. When I think that what I planned for a meal is maybe not enough, adding focaccia makes it a full one.
Ingredients
- 500g flour
- 1 ½ tbsp salt
- 325 ml lukewarm water
- 1 sachet yeast
- 2 tbs olive oil
- Cheese / rosemary whatever you like on the top
Instructions
- Mix the flour and salt
- Mix the yeast with the lukewarm water until yeast dissolves. Then add oil to it. Then add it all to the flour-salt mix.
- Mix (preferably with a stand alone mixer) for a few minutes.
- Cover with a clean kitchen towel and leave for an hour (or more)
- Stretch the dough with your fingers and cut into stripes, leave (covered) for another 40 minutes.
- Cook for 20 minutes at 220°C.
- Remove from the oven, add the rosemary and a few drops of olive oil or cheese or anything else you like and bake for another 3-4 minutes.
